About

Culture

Surge

Why are you called Culture Surge?

By bringing together content creators, artists, and on-the-ground organizers with streamlined key narratives and collective action, we will create a culture surge with the power to break through the noise, capture our audiences’ attention and imaginations, and inspire an upswing in civic participation.

How do I become a member?

You can sign up to join us here.

What does being a member entail?

As a member, you will receive periodic emails (we promise not to fill up your inbox!) with inspiration and opportunities to help you create change this November and beyond. Included in these emails are resources like our Storytellers’ Guide to Changing Our World, creative briefs, and more. This is also how you will receive invitations to upcoming briefings, create-a-thons, and other virtual events. All you need to do to fill out the Join Us form here!

When and how should I plug/promote Culture Surge?

It's actually better if you don't, because research shows that unbranded content tends to perform better than branded. We are here to be your behind-the-scenes resource, so there is no need to plug or promote Culture Surge. Most important to us is that you include one of our Voter Tools and CTAs and/or Core Story Threads.

About

Content

Creation

When and how should I reach out to Culture Surge with the content that I'm creating?

Reach out to us whenever you are ready! Fill out our Content Sharing Form or e-mail us at hello@culturesurge.com if you have any questions.

I missed the briefing! Where can I find a recording of it?

You can find all recorded events and briefings on our website here.

How can my content help in assisting with the battleground states?

We will make state-specific content available to organizations on the ground in our focus states (AZ, GA, MI, NC, WI) and will distribute it directly to audiences through social media and other digital means. If you want to make content specifically for one of our focus states, make sure to follow the calls-to-action laid out in our creative brief. And, very importantly, make sure to know the deadlines and rules around mail-in voting for that state. You can look those up here.

Keep in mind that aspirational content (using the Storytellers’ Guide) can be useful across the country. If your content is more general and not state-specific, we can still target distribution to our focus states.

Sometimes all the painful news and personal experiences of what’s happening in our country right now makes it hard for artists to create. The small wins help, but are there any other recommended words of wisdom for artists to get out from feeling stuck?

Our Storytellers’ Guide to Changing Our World can help focus on the aspirational stories that will motivate people, artists included! It can be rejuvenating to imagine the future we’re building toward, and manifest that by building power together now. Also, we find that taking a break and turning off the news and social media for large parts of our day helps us remain clear-headed and focused on what we are creating. Perhaps that will help for you, too.

Can you fund my project?

Unfortunately, the short answer is probably no. We have very limited resources for content creation that are already allocated to our partners and internal creative team. Although we can’t provide funding, we are working with our distribution partners to amplify content inspired by our creative brief. Send us your content through our Content Sharing Form if you would like us to share your work! Please note that Culture Surge cannot promote everything that is created, and only promotes content that encourages civic engagement, and is non-partisan.
